Welcome to my blog! I am Donald R. Hoofard, Sr. and I write the "Dane" novels. Each story is based
on my life as a Federal Fugitive Recovery Agent hunting down, apprehending, and returning the baddest of the bad to U.S. Justice
from foreign lands that had provided safe harbor to them until I came along. Now retired from that life, I write about my
cases for you to get to know that side of life as a Professional Bounty Hunter. It is the most dangerous occupation on the
face of this earth, and I have lived to tell about it.
This weblog is my online journal. You'll find my opinions on a variety of topics as well
as links to other things on the web that I find interesting. When the spirit moves me, I may also include longer
essays. My topics include, but are not limited to, careers and matters pertaining, and of interest to those within: Law Enforcement Corrections Investigations Bounty Hunting/Fugitive Recovery Agent (State, Federal, and International) Professional Writing as a Freelancer and whatever
else related to the above you want to know about. You can email your questions to me at admin@hoofard.us . I will respond in kind a.s.a.p. to you. Remember, I may not always agree with what you may have to say, but
I will defend to the death your right to say it....

TV Ads and a Possible New TV series as Host ....
Been a while since I've added to this site for quite a few reasons I am not yet willing to talk about due to my temper.
But, now that I can once again, here goes. I now have a new tv ad that is for my current book,"Dane, a life and time
thereof: First Bounty" on the air throughout East Texas way. It's being run on Beaumont's Channel 12 on both
their ABC and NBC stations. So, if you haven't yet seen it, you will through December of this year. If you have Ch. 12
and Ch. 50 through Dish Network, that is. In addition to that, Storyhouse Productions is talking about a new tv show to be
hosted by yours truly that will cover the more dangerous bounty hunter stories worked by the real hunters, not the "Dog"
types. I am to interview each star hunter about their most dangerous criminal apprehensions with actors re-living the stories
through re-inacting them. So, if you, or someone you know has a case they'd like told about and be featured on it talking
about their most dangerous case let me know and I'll forward their story to the producers for evaluation. I am excited
about this stuff now happening.
And...my Book II, "Dane: Saigon J.U.M.P." is coming along nicely and
will be published soon for you to get through any book store. I want you to remember that the "Dane" books are a
series and each one, from book I throught book VII tells my life story for you, from age 12 years through to why I ended up
here in Jasper, Tx. and currently working for the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice.
Chat again soon,

The Osama Bin Laden Affair....
First, let me state that on each radio show interview I was always asked about why I hadn't gone after Bin Laden prior
his apprehension in the early hours of May 1st, 2011, and my answer was always the same. It would take a military action,
not a solo hunter to get him, and sure enough, the U.S. Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 made my prediction come true, as I knew it would.
My question is, why is everybody so suprised about that?
And, I was asked since the event, why was he shot instead of arrested/captured? Simple, he has made several statements
over the years that he would not be taken alive. Having said that, he set his own self up for his fate. You never just assume
that kind of statement to be just a "For Press" show. If you want to survive an action like this you have to assume his statement
to be very real and act accordingly for your own safety. Remember that he may not have been armed himself, but he was
surrounded with people who were all the time. So to do as the SEALs did was no suprise to me at all. It's what I would have
done, or any hunter worth his salt would have done with this type of criminal, and he was one of the most dangerous ones out
there.
Now, I've also been asked about his organization, Al-Qaeda. It will not faid away as you might think in the wake of Bin
Laden's death. They will simply appoint a new leader and attempt to complete attack plans that Bin Laden had wanted carried
out. It's simple arithmatic. The thing now is to attempt to cease their bank rolls of funds to continue this effort/cause
of theirs. Nothing works for free in this world and certainly not Al-Qaeda. They need the finances to continue as any organization
does. It costs money. Without it they have nothing. Most of their funds came through the Bin Laden family who have a great
deal of wealth, need I say more?
Gotta' go for now. Keep it safe and happy hunting to you all. Do check out the latest copy of the X-Chronicles News Paper
for the latest story on me and my books. They did one fine job on it.
And...if you, or your organization, want me to appear at your event to talk about the amazing world criminal justice,
bounty hunting, and to autograph my latest book do contact me through my email address with your requests. I'd love to attend
your event.
Until my next post here, Adios Amigos...All my best, Don

The X Zone with Rob Mc Connell....
Yesterday was a busy day for me. First, I prepared for my much awaited hour long radio interview with Mr. Rob Mc Connell's
Show, the 'X Zone. While doing that interview, he asked quite a few questions about that life I had as a professional bounty
hunter, about my books, what makes a man like myself, coming from a law enforcement background, go into the life of a hunter
of men. All fair questions and ones that required my thought before responding to each.
As I said on the show, I was about to retire from my career in law enforcement and had no real idea what I would do next,
still at the young age of 42. But, that question got answered in a way I hadn't expected at all that day about two weeks prior
to that last day with my department. A couple of friends of mine, federal defense lawyers I knew that had a small law firm,
contacted me about a problem they had. They had bailed out a client they had on federal charges that had fled the country
(U.S.A.). The bad part was that the judge that had that case was now wanting them to produce either the fugitve defendant,
or the $1 million dollars in bail. They had neither. In the United States at the federal level of justice you, the one who
bailed someone out, can't make a deal with the court for a lesser bail payment, and walk away from it with just the loss of
those funds like a county level bondsman can. Here, you have to pay up the full amount of bail set or face the very charges
that the defendant was on over it. It gets very serious. They were a small firm and had taken the case in the first place
for the publicity they hoped to gain by defending this roach of a client. Well, I got with the local office of the F.B.I.
who had the fugitive warrant on this fugitive, and his criminal history file. Over that next two weeks, I studied up on this
guy, and learned all I could about him before actually committing myself to the case. Once officially retired, the rest, as
they say, is history.
It was that very love I had for the crimial justice system and having apprehended quite a few bad guys and girls prior
to that case that just naturally led me into fugitive recovery, or more commonly called, bounty hunting. Now you know why
I did that work. It was, and still is, my passion. Even through all the things one goes through to catch your prey, it is
the satisfaction of knowing you have served justice at the case's conclusion.
Now, you would ask, why aren't you still doing it? The answer is that it's a young man's game. A deadly game for all its
players. I am now too old, and the cases tend to take their toll on you over time, physically, mentally, and spirtitually.
Those that do this for a living know of what I speak. It is, by far, the most dangerous way to make a living that I know of.
Yet bounty hunting has been around for centuries with little notice at all to anyone, except by those governments that have
a criminal flee their homeland for foreign soil, and to safe harbor from the crimes they committed back home. Almost since
time began bounty hunters have been around. In this line of work you must be a professional at weapons, martial arts, and
capable of killing without little thought to it. Because that's very much apart of what you have to do to survive, make your
apprehension, and return with that fugitive for justice sake.
If you missed the "X Zone", hosted by Rob Mc Connell, just go to www.xzoneradiotv.com . They do have an archives for his shows there. Enter the date of the show, April 29, 2011, and Segment 1. That would be
my interview.
Until my next entry here, keep it safe, and thanks a bunch for coming to my sites. As always, if you want to ask anything
about my world of criminal justice, send me an email anytime at admin@hoofard.us . And, don't forget that my next "Dane" novel will be coming by summer's end, 2011 titled, "Dane: Saigon J.U.M.P.".
It's slow in coming due to the fact that it's a hard book to write, as all them are. Until next I write, adios amigos.

A Tribute to the one I love, Mrs. Catherine Owens Hoofard
It's been quite a while since I posted anything new to this blog page, but there is reason behind that. Much has taken
place since my last entry here.
I lost the love of my life, Mrs. Catherine Owens Hoofard to cardiac arrest on March 4, 2011, and laid her to rest on
March 10, 2011. My heart is breaking over my loss. She was more than just my wife. She was my best friend, my confident, and
the greatest love I have ever known. She meant more than just the world to me. She meant everthing to me. Now I am dealing
with the business of life without the one who knew just what to do. She knew what my thoughts were even before I knew them
at times. She had this way about her that she just knew what to say and when to say it that even my worst day would turn into
a wonderful one after all. Her heart was a giving loving one that saw me through the good and bad that life throws at you
from time to time. Words alone just don't say what I am feeling over my great loss. I have cried many a tear since her passing
that I have none left to cry. God has my love now at his side. My ambition now is that I will one day join her there and we
can once again be as we were here on earth, together as one. Only then it will be a forever for us, not just as it was here.
Time on earth has no meaning in heaven. My only comfort is in knowing that she no longer hurts her earthly hurts any
more. She no longer battles her diebetic ills, or deals with a pacemaker/defibricator attached to her weak heart. She is now
free of all that. My dear Catherine, I will forever love you. As I said in that last Valentine's Day card I gave you before
you left me here all alone,"How much do I love you? I will love you forever and a day.", and that's still as true
now as it was then. I will love you forever and a day.

Why can't we all just get along? Cops, Bounty Hunters, and the Bad Guys we go after!
I have given the matter a lot of thought here of late about all the reasons I hear as to why cops hate bounty hunters
and the bad guys we're all after in the first place, hate bounty hunters even more than the cops do, why? Because we can go
places and do things that the cops can't to catch our prey. Federal laws see to that. Plus, we are paid quite hansomly for
our efforts to that end. There lies the root of it all. Considering all this, I have decided to do something toward closing
the gap between the bounty hunter and law enforcement. The bad guys will just have to suffer their consequences as fugitives
who will eventually be caught by either of us anyway regardless. I have decided to write a new book titled,"Cops, Bounty Hunters,
and the Bad Guys in between". It will speak of the triumps, failures, and trials of having to work together for the common
good, or to be more apt, for justice sake. I am seeking stories from law enforcement professionals, bounty hunters, and the
bad guys themselves about our professions, working toward successful apprehensions, and those who have been arrested by both
with their side of the story. In short, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of it all. Those who contribute will be given credit
for their participation in the book. It is meant as an educational tool that should help soften our current conflicts and
bring about a better working relationship for the two professions. As for the bad guys, well, let's just say that you can
always run, but it is true that you can never hide, at least for long anyway.
As for my current book sales, remember that purchasing it will do two things. One will be that you get a great read to
educate yourself about a real international bounty hunter, and second is that half of the proceeds I make on that sale will
go to your favorite cause or charity in your name, not mine. So, we both win in the deal. All you have to do is email me
what charity you want your half to go to for you at either admin@hoofard.us or info@hoofard.us and you can pay or donate to that U.S. Tour of mine through Pay Pal. Your best bet for Christmas is at www.amazon.com/kindlestore where my book can be gotten for just $5.99 per download to any device you own. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year 2011!

It's Been Sometime Since I've posted. I've got Great News!
In honor of Black Friday, the coming holidays, and your own personal charity or cause, I am proposing this to you. What
if I were to tell you that I have decided to do a wonderful thing and that wonderful thing would include you? This is my proposition
to you. First, if you buy my book at any book seller site or store, of the 35% profit I will make from that sale I'll donate HALF
of that to a charity or cause you select in your name, not mine. Secondly, if you purchase the downloadable version at www.amazon.com/kindlestore selling at $5.99 per copy, add a penny to make that $6.00 and I'll donate HALF ($3.00) of that sale to any charity or cause
you select in your name, not mine. You can't ask for a better deal than that. You get a great novel based on my life, you
get a donation made to your cause, and my publishers will finally be happy they signed me with them.
After your purchase at the book store or kindle just email info@hoofard.us with your full name, place of purchase, date of purchase, and the price paid along with the name of the charity or cause
you want your funds sent to. It's that easy.
And... with Christmas coming, get a few books for your family and friends as gifts. Remember, It figures like
this, half of the profit made to me through your purchase will go to great causes in your name! So go get a great
book and enjoy it over the holidays, and let it be known that you care about your cause today!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, will have a great Merry Christmas, and an exciting New Year for you and yours!

Guest Lectures, book signings, and getting Book II ready for release!
It's been a litle time since I last posted anything on this blog site of mine, so here goes. First, Book II,"Dane: Saigon
J.U.M.P." is nearing completion for publishing and I have yet to find a book cover for it that really appeals to me. So I
have enlisted the help on that from my youngest of son's. A career U.S. Air Force Senior Airman, D.J. (Don, Jr.) is putting
his skills as a fine artist to work on this task of a book cover that will stand out. Go Dee!
Secondly, I am working on some book signings on Book I around the country. Stay tuned for the latest on that schedule
to be posted here and on my business site very soon. If your town is even close to where I'll be, stop by with your copy for
me to authography for you.
Thirdly, if you are a criminal justice student, thinking about it as a career, or know a college, university, or even
your local high school, think about getting in touch with me. I'd be happy to come to your school and speak about law enforcement,
investigations, security, and bounty hunting at the local, state, and federal levels. It is my passion and I'd love to bring
that passion for the fields that make our criminal justice system work to your campus for lively discussion, debates, and
lectures that will help you and others discover your passion for it too. To get an idea about this passion I have all you
need do is read the pages of my books to find it within each page that I write. What would that cost? Cover my expenses and
the lecture (usually 2 hrs.) is free! Drop a line to me and let's get me to your campus. Remember, my actual time is FREE!
So get in touch before that time becomes a paid deal. After all, I've gotta' live too ya' know? Until next I write, so
let it be written. So let it be done. And...follow me on Facebook too.

Travel Time Question....
If you could travel to the same places I have in my books, would you do it? Think about it. In my first one I traveled
Mexico from Cancun across the Gulf to the eastern coast, and into the heart of the country taking my captured bad guy all
the way back up to the Texas border, and into federal custody with danger at every turn for me. And, in book two I travel
Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam to bring my bad guy home. Would you care to make the same trips as I did? Think about
it and get back to me. I'd really like to know and so would several travel agencies I know of. I've been everywhere and then
some. Places that are beautiful, exotic, and intriguing yet deadly where I was concerned. Places that would be a travellers
dream to be in under better circumstances than I was in at the time. Tell me, would you dare travel the same roads I have?
Until your reply, so let it be written, so let it be done.
Send your replies to me here on this site or to my facebook.com wall.

What's it all about?
I am getting asked why I want this tour being planned and my answer is both simple and complicated. First, I want to
bridge the gap that has existed for years and years between law enforcement and bounty hunters. By working together more often
than we do on fugitives, can we really begin to take that bite out of crime we all want. Bounty Hunters have a freer hand
in catching bad guys and gals than do local Law Enforcement Officers. Bounty Hunters are paid per apprehension while Officers
are paid a salary to do the same thing. That's where the tension comes in. Because I have been on both sides of the issue
as a cop who turned hunter, I am able to see both sides better than most do in their respective professions, and they are
that, professions. Cops resent hunters for the amount of money they can make taking the same risks as they do on a salary
to catch a bad guy. But, they are sworn officers and hunters are not. Cops have guide lines and laws they must follow to make
an apprehension legal. While the hunter can go any where and do almost anything to make that apprehension without worry over
the legalities for the most part. The hunter works, for the most part, alone, and without a safety net, while cops never go
it alone, and always have a net (backup) to rely on. These are divisions not easily resolved between the two professionals
at work. It is hoped that this tour will help bring about a better understanding for each that will become productive toward
our working together to accomplishing our goal of taking the criminals off our streets. Whether that street be local, state,
national, or international in scope. We must become more able to accomplish our mutual goals of apprehension by helping
each other toward that end.
So let it be written. So let it be done.
Until next I write,
Don H.

Have had some questions posed of late to me. What do you think?
Have been asked to come out of retirement as a martial arts instructor and open another school, should I? What do you
think? It seems that Black Belt Magazine has listed me among the Black Belt Instructors in Texas and I am getting calls about
what I teach, where's my school, and what's the cost from all over the place.
First, I teach Tai-Kwon-Do, Aikido, and a style that myself and fellow instructor, Tony Anguiano (San Antonio,Tx.) created
together called "Aiki-Kwon-Do", a combo of the two styles. We are the Grand Masters of that style. I also study Tai-Chi and
Jeet-Koon-Do.
If I do open a new school (Dojo) it will be located In Jasper, Tx. and it will be registered with the AAU as such. I
was once an AAU Sanctioned School and Competions Judge for them. It will be named as my previous ones were, after my sinsai
(teacher), "Le'Chein Martial Arts". He was Quan Dux Le'Chein, a mainland China Grand Master in Tai-Kwon-Do.
Tell me what you think?

The Ben Laiden Question....
I get asked about whether or not I would go after Osama Bin Laden alot. Here's my reply to that.
Only a complete idiot would hunt Bin Laden. Why? Because you'd have to have either a death wish or be insane. First,
he's a religious leader that has followers every where. Afghanistan isn't giving him up are they? No, their not. So, the only
one who could get him at all would have to be a sniper that was able to get within 2500 yards of him for that shot. And, let's
say you make that shot. What next? How do you plan to escape this and live? You're chances are from a very very slight slim
of a chance to none at all to survive. Not just personally, but professionally, I don't like the odds. At least when I did
a case, I knew I had a planned way out. The odds were in my favor at getting out alive far before I ever went into the country
to start it. Getting into Afghanistan is not the problem. It's the getting out again that is. Think about it this way,
even though millions in bounty money has been offered for Bin Laden, why hasn't anybody actually seriously tried it? Because
they'd be dead within minutes of pulling the trigger. I wanted to spend my bounty money. You can't do that when you're
dead yourself. And, no bounty ever gets paid to your next of kin.
I operated on the terms that suited me. I sought justice for crimes committed in our homeland. Yes, Bin Laden fits that
bill, and I'd love nothing better than to be the one to pull the trigger on him, if I could. But, his case calls for more
than a single one man operation. It calls for a military action that would force him out into the open for his escape attempt,
and a well placed sniper round hitting its target. He's not the sort that would allow his apprehension. He's already said
he's die first. So, let it be written. So, let it be done.
So, let it be until next time.

It sure gets complicated sometimes....
Sometimes life seems far too complicated for the things one goes through just to get to the end of their day. Even living
in small town America it can be no picknick at times. The last couple of days have been ones that I'd just as soon forget
about. You know what I mean? You know, when the money gets tight and still everyone wants a dollar more than you have to give.
There's only so much in the piggy bank and I ain't breakin' it for anybody. That little bank has already gotten so many cracks
in it from all the shaking it's taken over the years, and I am running out of my tube of super glue trying to keep it together.
You can only break it so many times and that's it. I can't afford a new one, and have grown attached to this little one. Don't
worry little piggy. I ain't gon'a break into you again. Well, not for a while anyway, if I can help it.
Until next I write,

I always get asked,"How can I get into bounty hunting?"
The kind of bounty hunter that I was is nothing like what you can see on the "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" show. He goes after
small time criminals for tv. I went after the worst lot of criminals known to man. They were all extremely dangerous
and deadly types that thought nothing of killing to remain free. The way one gets into that line of work is by having
extensive previous training in investigations, prior police work on undercover cases, and working in a warrants division dealing
with matters pertaining to the types of fugitives you'd be going after and apprehending. It calls for you to work without
a safety net and working much of it solo in countries that, if they discover what you're there for, will kill you first if
they can. It is not an occupation you can just get into. There's no school for international fugitive recovery out there
that I am aware of to date. The exception being what some F.B.I. and C.I.A. Agents may get prior to their international
duty. I began in it by accident after many years as an active peace officer, and having friends that had no where else to
turn for help on that first case that I took for them. There's no applications to fill out with some agency to get started,
but rather recommendations made that open that door after proving that you have that prior experience that I've mentioned
here.
My best,
Don

Getting Started
Hello all! Well I'm busy into book II in my series. I have found that writing about one's self is not as easy as you
might think it is, trust me. It requires that I return to places and to things I'd just as soon forget about. But, I have
stories like no others you'll find from anyone at this point. My life has dealt with death alot. I have learned to heal over
those things and now to rehash them for my readers is a pain staking task for me. So bare with me if it seems too long a period
between each book in time. I have had many roads traveled in my life and in sharing each crooked road with you I
am helping myself heal old wounds. Some long forgotten until now and new ones that are still as fresh as yesterday to
me. It is my hope that you will find my stories worth reading. That you will come to know about that life which few have ever
known except those who would dare live it. After many years in law enforcement, I decided to take it one step further
in my fight against crime and the criminal. I stepped into the world of international bounty hunting. From my point of view
it has to be the most dangerous way to make a living that I know of, and yet as old a profession as time itself. Ever since
the first man fled one country into another for safe harbor, bounty hunters came into being. It has always been a "Bring Em'
Back Dead of Alive" ever since, and I am one of those that dared live that life.
